How to Use It Drill a Hole: Drill a hole through both pieces of material that matches the diameter of the rivet you are using. Insert the Rivet: Place the long, thin end (the mandrel) of the rivet into the nosepiece of the gun. Position: Push the head of the rivet into the hole you drilled. Squeeze: Squeeze the handles together. You may need to open and squeeze them a few times.
