How to Use It Drill a Hole: Drill a hole through both pieces of material you want to join. The hole should be slightly larger than the rivet diameter. Select the Nozzle: Match the riveter's nozzle to the size of the rivet you are using. Insert the Rivet: Place the long, thin "mandrel" (the tail) of the rivet into the gun’s nozzle. Position: Insert the thick end of the rivet into the drilled hole. Squeeze: Squeeze the handles together. You may need to do this a couple of times. You’ll feel resistance as the rivet head expands on the other side. The "Pop": Keep squeezing until the mandrel snaps off.
