Heat Insulation

Conduction – limiting heat flow through solid materials Convection – trapping air or gas so heat cannot easily circulate Radiation – reflecting heat away from a surface Common heat-insulating materials include fiberglass, foam, mineral wool, polystyrene, cork, and reflective foil. These materials usually contain tiny air pockets, since air is a poor conductor of heat. Heat insulation is widely used in buildings, refrigerators, hot water tanks, ovens, industrial equipment, and clothing. Good insulation helps reduce energy consumption, lower costs, protect equipment, and maintain stable temperatures.
