Chicks require heat for the first five weeks when their feathers are developing. After this period, they can maintain their own body temperature. With a 1 to 2 kilo tin full of charcoal, this Brooder Jiko can run for up to 24 hours, serving about 300 chicks. The brooder is made from refined clay. Clay soil is a non-metal and a bad conductor of heat, so it keeps heat and loses heat much slower.
