Slump Scale (Slump Cone)

The slump cone test is one of the most widely used methods to measure the workability or consistency of fresh concrete. It helps determine how easy the concrete is to mix, place, and compact without segregation (separating of materials). The test is simple, quick, and gives a rough idea of the concrete’s water-cement ratio and flowability on site. What Is a Slump Cone? A slump cone, also called an Abrams cone, is a metallic mold in the shape of a cone. It has the following dimensions: Height: 300 mm (12 inches) Bottom diameter: 200 mm (8 inches) Top diameter: 100 mm (4 inches) It is open at both ends and is usually made of steel or plastic for durability. It comes with a tamping rod (16 mm in diameter and about 600 mm long) and a base plate.
