How to Calibrate a Manual Rebound Hammer
1. Clean the Hammer
Ensure the plunger and guide rod are clean and free from dust or debris that may affect movement.
2. Check the Spring Tension
Make sure the spring moves smoothly. If movement feels rough or sticky, clean and lubricate according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
3. Use the Calibration Anvil
Place the hammer against a certified steel calibration anvil (usually 150–200 N/mm2 strength).
4. Hold the Hammer Properly
Keep the hammer perpendicular to the anvil surface to ensure an accurate impact.
5. Perform Test Impacts
Take at least 10 readings on the anvil.
• The rebound values should fall within the manufacturer’s acceptable range (commonly around 80 ± 2, depending on hammer type).
6. Adjust the Hammer (if needed)
