Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) is an action-adventure game set in the fictional city of Los Santos, a sprawling metropolis based on Los Angeles, California. The game follows the intertwining stories of three main characters: Michael, a retired criminal with a troubled past; Franklin, a young street hustler; and Trevor, a violent and unstable individual. They find themselves entangled with the criminal underworld and the U.S. government, leading them to embark on a series of heists and other dangerous missions to survive in a ruthless city where they can trust no one, least of all each other.
