A “brushless” drill uses a motor without carbon brushes and a commutator; instead it relies on an electronic controller and magnets to generate rotation. Compared with older “brushed” drills, brushless drills deliver more efficient power transfer, less internal friction and heat, and generally longer motor life. Because there are fewer moving/wear-parts and less heat buildup, these drills require less maintenance and tend to run cooler and more reliably under heavy or prolonged use.
