Chain block consists of a pulley system and a continuous loop of chain. When you pull one side of the chain (the hand chain), it turns internal gears that lift the load attached to the other chain (the load chain). Main parts Load chain – the strong metal chain that actually carries the weight Hand chain – the chain you pull to operate the device Hook(s) – used to attach the chain block to a support and to the load Gear system – reduces the effort needed to lift heavy objects Brake mechanism – holds the load in place when you stop pulling How it works The chain block uses the principle of mechanical advantage. This means it multiplies your input force, allowing you to lift loads much heavier than you could by hand alone. Pulling the hand chain rotates gears, which move the load chain slowly but with greater force.
