Chain block (also called a manual chain hoist) is a mechanical device used for lifting and lowering heavy loads by hand. It’s commonly used in construction sites, workshops, warehouses, and industrial settings where powered lifting equipment isn’t necessary or available. Basic description A chain block consists of a pulley system and a continuous loop of chain. When you pull one side of the chain (the hand chain), it turns internal gears that lift the load attached to the other chain (the load chain).
