Soda lime is a chemical absorbent used primarily in anesthesia breathing circuits and closed respiratory systems (e.g., rebreathers) to remove carbon dioxide (CO2) from exhaled gases, allowing the patient to rebreathe the remaining anesthetic gases and oxygen.
